Daymare: 1998

Original Interview in English:

Can you tell us a little about how the concept for Daymare: 1998 was created? How did you came up with the idea of making it?
All was originated from the will to make a true, nostalgic survival horror game inspired by the most important games, series and movies from the ’90, from fans for fans. The work on the unofficial remake has been really important to understand what the people and fans of the SH want and what we should do to make a game so connected to the past and so modern at the same time. About the story and the setting, it was originated long time ago by the creator of the game (a member of the team), who adapted his ideas and story to a project so ambitious like Daymare: 1998.

Please tell us about the game, the plot and what kind of scenario the player will be facing.
We choosed a classic cliché for the plot, but only on the surface. Playing the game with the three different characters, the player will discover a story deep and original. All it begins with an incident: during a shipping flight a chemical agent, called “Castor”, is spread over a small town in the north west of the United States. All the citizens, hit by this gas, begin to mutate to horrible, aggressive melted men. Here begins the story, with three different point of view connected to three different main character. The set will be split in several areas, like the forest, the town and some laboratories.

How does it feel to be working with people once involved with the Resident Evil games, now working on your game?
Is amazing! They are really professional and kind with us. Send them our works and ideas and have their support and opinions is exciting. Have their interest is an honor for us, because it means that Daymare: 1998 is a true, nostalgic game connected to the past and to the masterpieces that they made in the 90s.

How was the Daymare challenge with youtubers and influencers? Can you tell us about the experience?
The challenge was just a way to create a movement and interest on the game. Many youtubers tried it, and watch them scared and be afraid of the melted man live has been really fun! We want thank them again for their support and for the amazing words spent for the challenge and for the game.

Now a question regarding your previous project: RE2 Reborn. How was the visit to Capcom’s headquarters? For us fans it must have been like a dream coming true!
Exactly, for a fan is a dream came true. But we were there like professionals, then it was a double stimulation. When you receive an official invite from one of the most important company of the industry for the work you done on a their IP is something incredible. We didn’t expect that, and was a true surprise. During the meeting they have been really kind and professional, and showed us many incredible things that we cannot reveal. They are also supporting us in these period, with official posts on their social and helping us to connect with important companies. We are really grateful to them, first to have originated the most important brand of our life (Resident Evil), but mostly for what they done and what they are doing for us from a professional point of view.

Do you plan to release Daymare not only for PC, but also to consoles (PS4 and Xbox One)?
Sure, we have an agreement with Steam (after the Greenlight), with Microsoft (ID@Xbox Program) and we are working to have the same with Sony. The game will be released in 2018.
